Announcing our Middle School Redevelopment

We are excited to announce plans for the redevelopment of our Middle School. We have worked with the award-winning design architects responsible for the unique Tonsley redevelopment on this project. A new outdoor learning and social environment in the Mall area is a key feature. In many ways it will reflect the success of our new Senior School, the Margaret Ames Centre but developed with the younger Middle School age group in mind. The first stage of the work will be undertaken over the summer holidays. Watch out for future updates.

Anna Meares OAM headlines Sports Celebration

What an honour to have Anna Meares OAM as guest speaker at our Open A Sports Celebration last night. As an Olympic & World Champion cyclist, Anna shared some of the keys to her success, with a focus on resilience and mental strength. She encouraged our athletes to surround themselves with positive people and to focus on 'what is' rather than 'what if'. Anna is now involved in leading the fight against Motor Neurone Disease through Cycling Cares - A Fight MND Campaign. Congratulations to Year 12 students Jack and Apple for taking out two of the top awards last night for outstanding contribution across multiple sports. And thank you to all our students on their achievements and dedication to sport this year, as well as to their parents & carers for supporting them.

Farewell Year 12 - Class of 2017

This week we farewel our Year 12s and we wish them every success in the coming weeks for final exams and moderation, as well as for the months & years ahead as they start the next chapter of their lives. The Year 12 Valedictory Service was a special highlight where we honoured all of our graduating students and presented academic & service awards. Old Scholar Ken Lechleitner (1985) delivered an emotional Valedictory address where he conveyed his passionate belief of the importance of mutual respect and acceptance in race relations in Australia in shaping a positive shared future for all. Class of 2017 - we will miss you! Immanuel. Plus Ultra

Year 8 projects: Pure 'Genius'!

There were some extremely impressive results from the Year 8 students for Genius Hour. Today they shared their finished products with their peers and staff members. Genius Hour gives the students the opportunity to spend their time for a lesson per week pursuing an area of interest that they are passionate about. The future is looking bright for this bunch of Year 8's, well done!

The Road to Kokoda

Good luck to our team departing next week on Reconciliation South Australia's Kokoda Trek. The 11 day trek commemorates the sacrifice and service of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal soldiers on the Kokoda track in WW2. It's a unique opportunity for building resilience in emerging young leaders.Alongside the physical preparations, hiking 638.9km and climbing 31,731 vertical metres in training, they have also been gathering supplies to distribute to schools along the track. They are ready! Go well Wyndam & Courtney (Year 11), Brooke (Old Scholar 2015), and staff Virginia & David.

Simply the Best of Aus: Showcase 2017

What an incredible night we had at 2017 Showcase! We can’t come up with enough superlatives to express how incredible the night was and how proud we are of our amazing students and staff for staging something very special at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. An extra thanks to our special guests Ross Irwin & Tjupurru, with Ross having spent time working with our students during the week.

Grand Final Winners

There were wins all around for our girls last weekend in their Grand Finals. Our Open A Netball team defeated Westminster 67 – 46 in the season netball decider! The Open B girls Hockey team won their final in dramatic fashion with the score tied up 2-2 and 1min30secs remaining in the game, the girls were able to score 2 more goals and remain undefeated for the season. And last but by no means least, our A Grade Girls Badminton team were victorious in the Grand Final against Wilderness on Saturday. Well done girls!

National Champs - Australian A Cappella Awards

Congratulations to both of our Vocal Jazz Groups who gave outstanding performances at the Australian A Cappella Awards National Finals in Melbourne over the weekend. Vocal Jazz Blue were crowned National Champions at the in School Bands Division. Well done to Sky (Year 12) who won best vocal percussionist! We are so proud of all the students and staff involved for all their hard work and dedication to their music.

Genius Hour Projects

What would you do with a free hour a week? What are you passionate about? How can you make a difference? Term Three sees our Year 8 students answering these big questions during Genius Hour. Students are given control over their learning for a lesson a week to pursue an area they are interested in. It’s not for assessment, it’s not for their report and it’s not for their teachers- their passions are their own to share with their peers. Topics that students are working on are incredibly varied from research into sporting abilities, training a new pet, upcycling and re-purposing clothing, even developing an app to manipulate images. We can’t wait to see what they achieve.
